We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our dynamic team in Johannesburg. As part of a leading B2B exhibition organising company, you will play a key role in driving marketing performance through data-led insights, improved data quality, and audience understanding.
This position requires a balance of analytical rigour, commercial acumen, and a strong grasp of marketing metrics within the events and exhibitions sector. The ideal candidate enjoys uncovering trends, improving ROI, and translating complex data into actionable strategies that enhance visitor engagement, exhibitor acquisition, and overall event success.
You will also strengthen our data infrastructure by ensuring consistent, compliant management across HubSpot and related systems, improving segmentation and governance, and linking marketing and sales performance to data integrity and insight-driven decision-making.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, analyse, and interpret marketing and event data from multiple sources - including CRM (HubSpot), website analytics, registration systems, and digital campaigns - to identify trends and growth opportunities.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools that track key KPIs such as audience reach, engagement, conversion rates, campaign ROI, and exhibitor performance.
- Map and measure audience universes to define market penetration, track database growth, and segment data by industry, persona, and event category.
- Maintain and improve data quality and hygiene through systematic cleaning, validation, and re-engagement strategies to reduce bounce rates and improve deliverability.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, and data teams to ensure consistent CRM usage, segmentation logic, and lead scoring that support effective targeting and engagement.
- Evaluate and report on the performance of email campaigns, digital advertising, and partnerships, providing actionable insights to optimise spend and ROI.
- Ensure all data collection, storage, and communication practices comply with POPIA and align with company data governance standards.
- Present clear, concise insights and recommendations to management, linking data performance directly to commercial outcomes and strategic objectives.
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Intelligence, or a related field.

3–5 years’ experience in a marketing or data analytics role, ideally within B2B events, exhibitions, or media.

Proven proficiency in HubSpot (or similar CRM/marketing automation platforms) and experience managing data quality, segmentation, and lead scoring.

Skilled in data analysis and visualisation tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau, with the ability to translate insights into clear business recommendations.

Strong understanding of digital marketing metrics, attribution models, customer segmentation, and how these drive marketing and sales performance.

Demonstrated experience improving data accuracy, maintaining compliance with POPIA and data governance standards, and linking data insights to commercial outcomes.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a high attention to detail and the ability to present data to non-technical stakeholders.
